The Steinberg CC121 is the only control surface on this list tailored to work seamlessly with a single DAW. Logic Pro is a DAW and MIDI sequencer that was originally created in the early 1990’s and was eventually bought by Apple, who acquired the original company Emagic, in 2002. People keep telling me to try Ableton, so maybe one day I will pony up the $600. Built by Steinberg, and designed specifically for Cubase. So for the time being I am waiting and watching. It is in alpha, and comes with a warning that you should use it for testing purposes only, not for producing music. What I'm really waiting for is the mythical native OS X version of FL, which is currently under development. It's stable enough to use as my primary DAW, but far from perfect.
I know bunch or people who would use sonar but they have mac system so they download parallel desktop which cost more than sonar, just to make it work. Im interested in getting some DAW software to work on producing some metal tracks, Ive worked with Logic before but I was wondering what people feel is best for. Both programs are good but not good as sonar. I love the sounds I get out of EZ Drummer 2, and while the pre-made beats are pretty great, I want total control as well. Sonar for mac Hi everyone, i was wondering why sonar doesnt have any version that works in mac. However, I record/mix/edit in Adobe Audition, which does not support VSTi or MIDI at all anymore. I had to jump through all kinds of hoops to get my audio interface working, and some VSTs throw exceptions, crash, won't load presets etc. Looking for a drum replacement program and EZdrummer 2 is definitely my top choice. It is simply the Windows version of FL running in a virtual Windows environment, and as you might imagine that comes with drawbacks.
There are two versions of FL for Mac: I use a beta version which runs via a crossover wrapper, but is no longer being developed.
I have actually continued to use FL after switching to Mac, simply because I have been using it as my DAW for many years and am very comfortable with its workflow, but it is quite buggy. Since you are on Mac I would not recommend FL Studio.
